Hermes Agent, from Nous Research, is one of the most capable free AI agents. It runs on your own computer, so it can work with your files, open websites and do jobs on a schedule. Setting it up yourself means a terminal, API keys, model settings, backups and a chat bridge. Buddy does that setup for you: - One command installs Hermes Agent on Mac or Windows and opens a setup page - A Chrome helper walks you to your free AI keys (Google, with NVIDIA and OpenRouter as backups); Buddy checks each key and saves it - Tested settings for models, backups, memory, voice and schedules - WhatsApp (scan one QR code) or Telegram (the guide makes your bot with you), then it sends its first hello - A Doctor button that finds and fixes most problems - A video for every step, and email help until it runs When it's done, you text your own AI agent from your phone: research that saves a full report, a page watched every hour for a price drop, a file sent from your laptop to your phone, files converted and tidied, reminders. Good to know: your memory, files and settings stay on your computer. Each reply is written by a free cloud AI model, so don't send passwords or bank details. It works while your computer is on.
