Guide

Use sitemap diffs before and after a migration

Keep a copy of the pre-migration sitemap. After cutover, diff against the new index to catch missing money pages.

Unchanged counts should include your canonical product and pricing URLs - if they appear under Removed, fix redirects and re-submit.

Pair with the redirect checker so removed URLs 301 to their replacements.

Questions

Sitemap Diff FAQ

Which sitemap is the baseline?

Sitemap A is the baseline. Added = in B only; Removed = in A only.

Why might the diff be incomplete?

Very large indexes may hit fetch caps. Re-run on child sitemaps for a precise section-level diff.
