## About AppXpose

AppXpose is an Android privacy scanner that shows you what the apps on 
your phone actually do — not what their store listing claims.

I built it after reading study after study (Mozilla, Oxford, PETS) showing 
that Play Store privacy labels often don't match real app behavior — and 
realizing there was no tool regular people could use to check. Everything 
that existed was built for security researchers.

So AppXpose analyzes the APK itself: static bytecode analysis, directly on 
your device — no app code ever gets uploaded. It detects hidden tracker 
SDKs (170+ signatures from Exodus Privacy plus our own research), dangerous 
or out-of-place permissions, repackaged and fake APKs, and cross-checks 
against malware and breach databases. Every finding is evidence-based: if 
AppXpose says an app contains a tracker, that tracker was found in the 
code — not estimated from metadata. An AI summary translates the findings 
into plain language.

The detection engine improves through community discovery: unknown SDK 
signatures found across devices get confirmed and synced daily, no app 
update needed.

Free on Google Play, with an optional GUARD tier that adds daily background 
monitoring — alerts when an installed app gains dangerous permissions, 
changes its signing certificate, or adds new trackers.

App store privacy labels don't match what apps actually do — studies from 
Mozilla and Oxford keep proving the gap. Users grant permissions blindly, 
hidden tracker SDKs ship inside everyday apps, and fake/repackaged APKs 
look identical to the real thing. There was no tool for regular Android 
users to verify any of this — everything existing was built for security 
researchers.

### Solution

AppXpose analyzes the APK itself instead of trusting the label: static 
bytecode analysis directly on your device (no app code uploaded). It 
detects 170+ tracker SDKs in the code, flags dangerous or out-of-place 
permissions, spots repackaged and fake APKs via certificate and integrity 
checks, and cross-references malware and breach databases. An AI summary 
turns the findings into plain language anyone can act on.

Evidence over estimates: every tracker claim is verified in the app's 
actual bytecode, on-device — not guessed from metadata. The detection
