Open Graph image size and tags that work

The de-facto OG image size is 1200×630 pixels (1.91:1). Smaller images often crop poorly on Facebook and LinkedIn; missing og:image falls back to a random on-page image.

Set og:title, og:description, og:image, and og:url on every launch page. Keep the title under ~60 characters and the description punchy - social feeds truncate aggressively.

After you ship, re-scrape the URL in Facebook Sharing Debugger and X Card Validator so caches pick up the new tags.

What size should an Open Graph image be?

1200 × 630 pixels (about 1.91:1) is the safe standard for Facebook, LinkedIn, and most link unfurls. Keep the file under ~5MB.

Do I still need Twitter/X tags?

Yes for reliable large cards. This tool outputs both og:* and twitter:* tags. twitter:card should be summary_large_image when you have a wide image.
