Prompt: correct titles, descriptions, canonicals and social cards on every page
Paste this into Claude Code, Cursor or Codex inside your repo. The agent audits every page's head tags, shows you a before table, then moves them all onto one helper with length rules, canonical URLs, Open Graph images and a test that stops regressions.

Runs your live URL through the free On-Page SEO Audit. Free on-page SEO audit - title, meta, H1, and checklist for any URL.
The SEO checker also scores an H1 and a Sitemap line in robots.txt. This prompt doesn't touch those, so pair it with the sitemap prompt if that check fails.
How to use
4 steps from paste to deploy
- 1
Open your repo in a coding agent
Claude Code, Cursor (agent mode), Codex or Windsurf, with the dev server runnable.
- 2
Paste the prompt and read the before table
The agent lists every page template with its current tags and what's wrong. This table alone usually turns up duplicate descriptions and missing canonicals.
- 3
Say OK and let it apply the helper
It moves every page onto one helper, adds noindex to private pages and writes the regression test.
- 4
Deploy and check a few pages
Run the homepage and one dynamic page through the SEO checker, and paste a URL into X or LinkedIn to see the card.

Questions
SEO metadata prompt FAQ
Why one helper instead of fixing each page?
Because the next page someone adds will copy whatever pattern exists. With one helper, length rules, canonical format and the OG image fallback are decided once, and the test catches a page that skips it.
Will it rewrite my page copy?
No. It only changes head tags. Titles and descriptions for dynamic pages are built from data the page already shows, and the prompt forbids inventing prices, counts or ratings.
What about pages with filters and pagination?
Page 2 and beyond get their own canonical and a page number in the title. Filtered or sorted variants canonicalise to the unfiltered list so they don't compete with it.
