# Free WHOIS Lookup - Domain Age & Expiry

> Look up when a domain was registered, how old it is, when it expires, and who the registrar is. Public RDAP - no WHOIS API key.

## How to use

1. **Enter a domain** - Hostname or full URL. We strip www and look up the registry record.
2. **Read age and expiry** - Registration date, age label, and expiration if the registry publishes them.
3. **Note registrar and NS** - Useful before a transfer or when diagnosing DNS that does not match the site.

## How to read domain age and WHOIS

Domain age is a research signal, not a ranking factor by itself. Use it when buying a name, vetting a directory, or checking whether a partner site has a real history.

We query RDAP (the modern WHOIS). Registrant email is often redacted. Dates, registrar, status, and nameservers are the useful fields.

Some country-code TLDs do not publish RDAP. Pair a successful lookup with Domain Rating and DNS before you spend time on outreach.
